What it shows
Measures the strength of directional movement using upward and downward changes relative to bar ranges. Its smoothed line occupies a separate lower field and helps distinguish stronger movement from less pronounced conditions.
Chart example
How to read it
A high reading primarily describes strength, not necessarily rising prices: a strong decline can also lift the line. Compare it with the price direction and selected levels. A falling line indicates weakening directional strength, rather than a standalone reversal time.
Available controls
Two smoothing periods, 8 and 8; levels 40/60; colour, line width, height and scale.
