Load data and choose the chart
Start with an instrument that loaded successfully. Check its symbol and timeframe. With two charts, click the intended chart or select it in Chart settings: enabling volume applies to that chart.
A two-symbol ratio chart does not use volume, so the corresponding control may be hidden. This is a limitation of that chart, not a report of zero traded volume in its underlying instruments.
Enable the volume pane
Enable volume in the selected chart’s settings. A separate column pane appears with instrument, timeframe and selected-bar date in its readout. It displays ordinary volume received with the price history, without smoothing.
The checkbox displays data already available. It does not supply missing values or create ratio volume. If the data load failed, resolve that failure before checking this pane.
Check the value for a specific date
Hover over a column or its corresponding bar and read the date and value. Confirm the instrument and timeframe. The column and readout refer to the selected history context.
No data means no usable value is available. A separate source-reported-zero label means an actual zero was supplied. If the visible range has no positive values, the pane shows an explanation. Do not combine these different states into one assumption that volume is absent.
Resize the pane without changing data
Use the pane’s height control or boundary to resize it. This changes display space, not volume values. Check the dated readout if columns look small or are not visible in the current range.
The close button in the heading hides volume for that chart; it does not delete price history. Enable volume again to show it. The two charts can have different volume visibility and pane heights.
Save the checked state
Save the workspace after adjusting it and wait for confirmation. Reopen it and check the chart, instrument, timeframe and volume setting. Saving cannot guarantee that a source will subsequently supply missing values.
For the meaning of volume units, use the separate article about quote updates, shares and cash turnover. This guide answers a different question: how to check the display and presence of a particular value in the platform.
Primary sources
Sources explain the mechanics and limitations; the editorial examples use invented numbers rather than market quotations.
Your next practical step
Load an available instrument, enable volume on the intended chart and verify one value together with its date.
