Compare two approaches

SW Combo: reading labels and comparing with Sequential

Combo and Sequential study possible exhaustion, but build their second counts differently. Compare them using the same bars and clearly identified calculation presets.

What Combo shows

SW Combo marks completed sequences to help you study the maturity of a move. Its first stage is associated with 9 and its second completes at 13. The second count uses a combination of price checks, so it is not a copy of Sequential in another colour.

Once the initial sequence completes, Combo checks qualifying bars starting at that sequence’s first bar. Part of its second count may therefore have accumulated already. It then adds bars that pass the selected version’s checks. Gaps between numbers are normal.

SW Combo I on its own

MSFT · daily · 20 May–20 August 2024 · DEMARK 1997 — Combo I. This original illustration retains only 13 labels for clarity.

In this window Combo I has a 13 on 5 July 2024. Begin with the single study: locate the label, then follow subsequent bars and price behaviour. You do not need to add other indicators to see what this calculation contributed.

The same bars, a different calculation

The same MSFT, daily interval and identical historical window. This illustration shows SW Sequential using the DEMARK 1997 preset and only 13 labels.

Within this window Sequential completed a 13 on 24 June, whereas Combo I completed on 5 July. The underlying price chart is the same: the counting rules changed, rather than the quotes or time scale.

This example does not establish that either study is always earlier. Keep the symbol, interval, history and snapshot date consistent, and check the exact Combo version. Agreement between two labels does not, by itself, measure the probability of a reversal.

What changes between Combo I and II?

Version I

The checks are retained for all thirteen numbers. It lets you follow one set of rules consistently through completion.

Version II

The first ten numbers use the full checks. The final three use a simpler price-progress requirement. This is a different calculation version.

Other platform presets reflect book variants or additional completion and confirmation checks. Seven presets are available, including an I/II comparison. They select rules; they do not promise that one version will be more profitable.

Set up a readable view

  1. Enable SW Combo

Its collapsible block is in the indicator menu on the right. Collapsing the menu does not remove the chart study.

  2. Select a preset and visible labels

Begin with one version and completed 13s. Add detailed numbers, histograms, P and Risk when needed.

  3. Distinguish studies with colour

Combo has its own colours to help separate its labels from Sequential when both are displayed.

  4. Save the selected version

Combo settings are saved in the workspace independently of Sequential.

A colour change affects appearance; a preset change affects the calculation. When comparing rules, keep the appearance and input history consistent so you do not mistake a setup change for a change in the market.

What to examine after a 13

Locate price within its recent range and observe subsequent completed bars. If extra reference levels are enabled, use them according to the selected preset. When Combo and Sequential disagree, first understand why their counts differ, then form your own conclusion.

Combo does not appoint an inevitable reversal, execute trades or replace risk management. A comparison provides additional context when you understand the role of each study.

Questions before you begin

Is Combo an accelerated Sequential?

It is an independent calculation with different checks. It may finish on a different date; “always faster” is not a valid description.

Why select version I or II?

Their final counting conditions differ. Know which version is selected before comparing results.

Can both studies be displayed?

Yes. Sequential and Combo can be enabled independently and distinguished with their colours.

Does a clean display change the formulas?

No. The display preset selects visible labels; the calculation preset determines the rules.

About these examples

The illustrations use the project’s accepted calculations and a history snapshot prepared on 13 October 2026. They are original chart drawings, not screenshots of customer accounts. A readable historical window is shown; the calculation uses the loaded history. Examples explain the tool, not its overall performance.
